Amir San‘i
Biography
Amir Sana Ardalani, Asadullah Bayk (d. 1845), son of Najaf Quli Khan and nephew of Hasan 'Ali Khan, a governor of Kurdistan. His Divan runs to 3,000 verses. The following lines are by him:
I was not such a prey to be tamed and rendered so distraught,
Deceived was I by the beauty spot, like a grain in her trap.
My heart so burns in my breast in yearning for you,
Like the fire of a shepherd amongst his flock at night.
My eyes turned white out of separation, like those of Jacob [yearning for Joseph],
O breeze bearing to me scent of the shirt betokening union with Josephl
Lughat-nama-yi Dihkhuda (3, 3400).
