Afsar Ma'rifat (b. 1935), daughter of Muhammad Taqi Ma'rifat Shirazi, was born in Shiraz. Her nom de plume was Afsar (Crown). Having completed her studies in English and Persian literature, she taught at high schools in Shiraz. Her works include: Safa-yi Ayinih-ha (Transparency of Mirrors; 1969); Dastan-i Kiyumars (Story of Kiyumars); Ta Zuhur-i Zahhak (Till the Rise of Zahhak); Sih Dastan-i Manzum (Three Stories in Verse); Dastan-i Zanburak-i Tala'i (The Story of the Little Golden Bee).
