Pari Nigahban
Biography
Pari Nigahban (b. 1939). She was born in Tehran and began her first compositions at the age of 17. Her fluent and elegant poetry appeared in different periodicals, like the Ittila’at-i Banuvan. The following lines are by her:
Do you intend to know the length of night?
Cast a glance at my sleepless eyes.
Do you intend to be aware of the agonies of the heart of the bird of soul?
Hearken to the mourning of my restless heart.
The Pleiades and the night enlivener Evening Star departed,
You were enamored and distraught beside me.
The nights of separation are innumerable and there is no
Hope for the return of my beloved.
