Maryam Savaji (b. 1917), daughter of Mirza Muhammad. Having completed her primary and secondary education in her hometown, and completed BA programs in law and literature in Tehran. Then, she taught at high schools, embarked upon her literary and cultural career in ca. 1946 she established a school and served as its principal. She was a skillful poet as well as a good fiction writer. She first used the nom de plume Suwar but she later changed it to Maryam, though she has rarely used her nom de plume in her poetry. She was on the directorate board of Women Lawyers’ Association. Her works include: Ikhtilaf-i Huquq-i Zan wa Mard dar Islam wa Iran; Dukhtar-i Rah; Firishta; three collections of poetry – Divan-i Maryam, Gulbarg, and Panja ba Khurshid.
