Mushfiq Kashani

Biography

Mushfiq Kashani, Kiymanish, ‘Abbas (b. 1925), son of Muhammad ‘Ali. Born in Kashan and having completed his primary and high school education in his hometown, he found employment at the Education Ministry and studied administration at the University of Tehran obtaining his BA and MA. His last office before his retirement was deputy of the Personnel Department of the Education Ministry. A vigorous poet of renown, his poetry was appealing to literary circles and the public. His works include: Sala-yi Gham (endorsements of Muhtasham Kashani’s Dawazdah Pand (Twelve Cousels); Mathnawi-yi Shabahang (1944); Khatirat-i Sal (1947); Surud-i Zindigi (1962); Sharab-i Aftab (1963); Naqshbandan-i Ghazal, a collection of poetry (1986); an anthology of contemporary poetry (1986); Ka’ba-yi Khunin (1989), a collection of poems (with Shahrukhi); edition of the Divan of Hajj Sulayman Sabahi Bigdili (1959 with Husayn Bayza’i, Partaw); Aftab-i Ghazal; Sima-yi Muhammad dar A’ina-yi Shi’ir-i Farsi (a collection of elegant poetry on the prophet of Islam); Sima-yi ‘Ali (a collection of elegant poetry on Imam ‘Ali, with Shahrukhi); Gulgasht (a collection of elegant didactic anecdotes and poetry with Shahrukhi).
