Niyaz Kirmani, Muhammad Sadiq Sa’id (b. 1939), son of Mirza Kuchak. A poet with the nom de plume Niyaz who was born in the village of Dih-i Taziyan in the vicinity of Kerman. He received his primary and secondary education in his hometown and Kerman and later studied at the Military College (Danishkadih-yi Afsari) in Tehran. He became a commissioned officer in 1960 and worked at the cultural department of the military headquarters. He has been working as a publisher since 1979. His works include: Kuchaha-yi Khalwat-i Shab, a collection of poetry; edition of Majmu’a-yi Maqalaha-yi Hafizshinasan, a collection of articles devoted to the study of Hafiz (9 vols) by contemporary scholars; Sukhan-i Ahl-i Dil, including biographies of Persian poets.
