‏Mustafa Kasravi

Biography

Kasravi, Mustafa (1925-2006)

Flute instrumentalist, composer, and instructor at Tehran and Tabriz Conservatories of Music between the years 1955 and 1979. He studied music with Czechoslovakian masters at the Tehran Conservatory of Music and performed in  different orchestras from 1950 onwards. In 1979 he emigrated to the United States with his family, where he continued his musical activities down to his last days. Numerous compositions of his in symphonic and other forms of Western classical music using Persian melodies are available. One of the reasons for his participation in the Golha-yi taza programmes during the 1970s was due to his  composition, arrangement and performance of two lovely pieces with lyrics by Hafiz (programme no. 110) and Fakhr al-Din ‘Iraqi (programme no. 180) accompanied by the famous vocalist Muhammad Riza Shajariyan. These two programmes represent the full extent of his activities for the Golha. No work of his, whether in CD or book form, has to date appeared.
