Sarkhush, Ibrahim (1911-1981)
Tar instrumentalist and composer. He learned pot play the tar from his father and became acquainted with other instruments on his journeys between Tehran and Rasht. He was one of the most skilful instrumentalists of his time and performed on Radio Tehran from 1945 onwards. His solo performances can be heard in the Golha-yi rangarang and Yik shakh-i gol programmes. A number of his compositions featuring Ruhangiz (1907-1985) on vocals were recorded on gramophone records in the years 1945-1955. His tar performance accompaniment of Adib Khvansari on vocals for the recording of Persian classical singing repertoires has been released (Farhang va Hunar, Tehran 1356/1977). He was a skilful instrumentalist who has not yet received the recognition he deserves.
