Musa’ib Takalu

Biography

Musa’ib Takallu, Musayyib Khan (16th century), son of Muhammad Khan Sharaf al-Din Ughli. Calligrapher, poet, and musician from the tribe of Takallu. He was also a distinguished personality and a relative of the Safavid sultans. He was the governor of Herat and Tehran for a while. It was late in the reign of Sultan Muhammad Khudabanda that he protested the vicegerency of Hamza Mirza and demanded that of Tahmasb Mirza. Finally, he was arrested by Hamza Mirza and was divested of his glory. Musa’ib Khan was well-versed in music and calligraphy and his poetical compositions were popular in his times. His divan of poetry is extant.
