Kafi Urdubadi (1561), a poet and calligrapher from Urdubad, Azerbaijan whose genealogy traces back to Khawaja Nasir al-Din Tusi. His ancestors were judges and religious scholars in Azerbaijan. Erudite in the arts of poetry and scribal practice, he wrote elegantly in ta’liq and shikasta scripts. He served as the chief scribe at court for years. He died in Qazwin and his poetry is extant.
