Ja'frudi (1928-2004)

Vocalist performing avaz and Gilaki folklore songs, lyricist, composer, theater actor. He was born in Rasht in 1928 and began his theatrical career in Gilan from 1951. Radio Rasht was inaugurated by his performance of the vocals accompanied by the military orchestra. He embarked upon recording the vernacular music of Gilan. He performed on the Golha-yi Sahra'i and Yik Shakih Gol Programs. Following his retirement in 1976 he worked with Rasht Radio and Television for two consecutive years. Then, he returned to Tehran and led a secluded life with his wife for the last twenty six years of his life without being involved in any artistic activity. He performed the vocals on a number of the Golha Programs.
