Ruya

Biography

Ruya (ca. 1943-), renowned female vocalist famed for her performance of lyrical songs during the years 1966-71. Her maiden name was Rizvan Zadhush; following her marriage with Habibu’llah Badi‘i, she became known as Ruya Badi‘i. She performed a number of lyrical songs composed by Badi‘i in which he accompanied her either as violinist or conductor of the orchestra. Her performances appear in Gulha-yi Rangarang and the Yik Shakh-i Gol programs. Ruya’s main activities were not actually in the Golha programmes and she was better known as a singer in television programmes. Since 1975, no works by her have been released.
