Ramish (1941-)
Female vocalist who sang serious Persian popular musical songs during the years 1962-1979 . After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which imposed a ban on all female singers in Iran, she emigrated to the United States and continued her musical activities there. Her real name was Azar Muhibbi. She began her initial performances with small pop music ensembles and due to the particular resonance of voice, strong personality, and good artistic taste, was one of the most popular and widely feted vocalists in Iran throughout the 1970s. She performed a number of songs in the Gulha-yi sahra’i with folkloric and non-folkloric melodies.
