DESCRIPTION

Music Iran is a Persian language journal published monthly in Tehran from May 1952. The magazine covered the music of Iran and the world. A large part of the journal was devoted to sheet music and lyrics of songs of the day, composed by well-known composers such as ‘Abbas Shapuri, Majid Vafadar, Mihdi Khalidi, Humayun Khurram, ‘Ali Tajvidi, Buzurg Lashgari, Javad Lashgari, with lyrics by prominent songwriters such as Mu‘ini Kirmanshahi, Nizam Fatimi, Navab Safa, Rahi Mu‘ayyiri, Nasir Rastagarnizhad, Parviz Khatibi and others. Other contributors were Ruhu’llah Khaliqi, Amir Ashraf Aryanpur, Mihdi Barkishli, Sa'di Hasani; etc. Bahman Hirbad was the managing editor and imprint owner of the magazine.

In its early years, the Iran Music magazine was published regularly and on a monthly basis. However, from May 1962 to April 1963, its publication was suspended, then was published occasionally. In No. 144 of January 1967, negligence and obstruction were cited as the cause of irregularity in the publication of the Journal. The new edition of Music Iran journal started in 1970, but it was published in the form of a literary and artistic monthly magazine, not just dedicated to music.
